Warning! Top-notch instant cameras known to boost happiness.
I’ve recently taken a trip to the tiny Italian island of Procida – an amazing opportunity to explore its renowned colourful houses, backstreets and all-important restaurants. I was fortunate enough to get access to the new instax mini LiPlay to capture some of those precious moments (and meals!)
My favourite feature about the instax mini LiPlay is the digital screen, meaning you can clearly see what you’re photographing and have the ability to flick through your images after taking them. Instant prints are definitely one of the more challenging ways to take photos, as you only have one chance to capture that fun, spontaneous moment. Although I shoot with my beloved analogue cameras for both business and pleasure, in my opinion they are better suited for more considered, paused moments in time. Having the digital back allowed me to line up the perfect shot in an instant and get back to my holiday! It also means you only print the images you really love.
The instax mini LiPlay doubles as a printer, so you can print collectively from your phone or any other camera, where you can airdrop or email your images over to your phone. If like me, you take multiple cameras on your holiday, they can still all end up collectively in one album or wall display.
Here, you can see a mix of instant prints, but not all of them were taken on the instax camera. Some were taken on my film cameras and some on my phone!
Self-timer! No excuse for the one person who always seems to dodge photos by hiding behind the camera. You can take the images through the app on your phone, which is great if there are no helpful strangers close by to involve in your impromptu photoshoot!
You can add filters, frames and doodles to your images.
Brighten up a dull day with an orange flare or put bunny ears on your pal without them knowing!
It’s super lightweight and small for your clutch or bumbag. I found the best way to travel around the island was on one of their fun e-bikes, which meant I didn’t have my hands free for carrying lots of equipment. The instax mini LiPlay was ideal for this, particularly as it meant it didn’t take up too much vital space on the dinner table (reserved for delicious pasta).
And the instax mini LiPlay has a higher resolution than you might assume! You’re able to transfer all the images snapped on the instax camera to your computer with a micro SD card. The image quality is amazing! This is encouraged by the option to adjust the exposure before taking your photograph (working in a similar way to ISO).
